SUMMARY:Comprehensive Staking Certification Program: Phase 3
DESCRIPTION:Underground Line Design and Subdivision Layout\nDuring this course\, the components of underground distribution\nsystems\, along with their application and limitations\, will be\ndiscussed. Participants will learn how to layout subdivisions\,\nspecify pad-mounted equipment\, and design sectionalizing\nsystems. This course will also cover conduit systems and the\ncorrect methods for calculating pulling tensions relative to\nconduit bends and cable runs. \nSizing Transformers and Conductors\nThis course will focus on basic electric theory\, and the\nmethodology to correctly size transformers and service\nconductors for standard residential and small commercial loads.\nParticipants will learn how to perform basic calculations for\ncurrent\, voltage\, power\, and voltage drop. \nBasic Sectionalizing and Line Equipment\nThis course will give participants a basic understanding of\nfault currents\, sectionalizing devices\, voltage regulators\, and\ncapacitors. The focus of this section will be to teach the staking\ntechnician how to apply and locate these devices on the\ndistribution system when the line is being staked. \nConstruction Contracts\nAccurate accounting of materials and close monitoring of the\ncontractor’s progress are essential to completing a project on\ntime and on budget. Participants will learn how the construction\ncontract affects every aspect of the project\, how to prepare\nspecial conditions and units\, and how to administer the contract\nterms and conditions for a successful outcome.
