SUMMARY:Comprehensive Staking Certification Program: Phase 2
DESCRIPTION:Application and Use of the 2023 National Electrical Safety Code \nThe 2023 National Electrical Safety Code was released Aug.\n1\, 2022. With hundreds of proposed changes and additions to\nthe NESC\, most directly affecting distribution systems\, learning\nthese changes is imperative for personnel responsible for the\nsafe design\, construction\, and operations of an electric utility\nsystem. This course focuses on the application of the 2023\nNational Electrical Safety Code with particular emphasis on the\nchanges to the existing rules and new rules. Participants will\nlearn the meaning of the safety code rules as well as how to\napply the rules in everyday design. \nEasement Acquisition\nParticipants will learn about easement law\, land ownership\nrights\, titles\, easement descriptions\, and recording easements.\nParticipants will also learn valuable negotiating skills to aid in\nthe procurement of an easement. \nPermitting\nParticipants will learn the information required to obtain a\npermit\, how to set up an efficient permitting process\, how to\nestablish good personnel contacts to ease the process\, and how\nto prepare permit documents and drawings. \nLine Inspection\nThe National Electrical Safety Code requires that a utility\ninspect its facilities periodically to ensure that they are safe\nand adequate to distribute electricity. Participants will learn the\nprinciples of making an inspection. The course will discuss the\nimportance of a systematic method\, the elements that should\nbe checked\, and different ways to perform the actual inspection.
