Indiana Electric Cooperatives Host Page Day

Twenty-two students represented 11 of Indiana’s electric cooperatives at the Indiana Statehouse Wednesday, March 22, for the cooperatives’ annual Page Day.

“Serving as a page gives young people a unique opportunity to participate in state government,” explained Rachel McFadden, youth and learning development specialist at Indiana Electric Cooperatives. “Experiencing the process and the heart of state government brings to life many of the lessons students learn in the classroom. Seeing it firsthand takes it to the next level.”

The students participated in a tour of the Indiana Statehouse and had the opportunity to meet legislators. Pages learned how a bill becomes a law and passed their own legislation in a mock bill activity.

The students represented the following cooperatives:

  • Boone REMC
  • Clark County REMC
  • Decatur County REMC
  • Harrison REMC
  • Hendricks Power Cooperative
  • Jasper County REMC
  • JCREMC
  • Kosciusko REMC
  • Marshall County REMC
  • Parke County REMC
  • Warren County REMC
