John P. Gasstrom

John P. Gasstrom

Chief Executive officer

John Gasstrom is the chief executive officer of Indiana Electric Cooperatives.

Gasstrom has more than 25 years of energy industry experience as a customer-focused leader skilled in strategic planning and project management. He was most recently director of compliance at Georgia Systems Operations Corporation (GSOC). He joined GSOC in 2002, where he was responsible for the activities of the compliance department, including bulk electric system reliability and critical infrastructure protection compliance and corporate ethics. He also served GSOC and its members in energy control and metering systems roles.

Gasstrom holds a bachelor’s degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in electrical engineering and an MBA with a focus on technology management from the University of Phoenix.

Amanda L. Barth, CCC

Vice president of Communication 

Mandy is the vice president of communication. In this role, she leads the association’s cooperative and consumer communication, Indiana Connection magazine, public relations, youth engagement, cooperative career awareness, and philanthropy.

Before joining IEC in 2013, she served as the associate director of public engagement at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. She was also previously the communication and events director for the Champaign County Chamber of Commerce and the promotion coordinator for the Champaign Park District, both in Champaign, Illinois.

Barth is an Illinois State University graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in public relations and a Master of Science degree in communication. She is also a certified cooperative communicator.

Brian Christenberry

Brian Christenberry is the vice president of government relations.

Before joining IEC in 2011, Christenberry served as state government affairs consultant with LegisGroup Public Affairs and was also the North Dakota/South Dakota state manager with the National Federation of Independent Business.

An Indiana University graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science, Christenberry also pursued graduate-level coursework in business administration at Western Governors University. Christenberry is a past president of the Government Affairs Society of Indiana and is on the deacon board at Second Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis.

Jon Elkins

Jon Elkins

Vice President of Safety, Training and Compliance

Jon Elkins is the vice president of safety, training and compliance. Jon previously served as operations manager at South Central Indiana REMC. He also served as dispatch manager and a journeyman lineman for the electric distribution cooperative and started its first 24/7 dispatch operation. Prior to joining South Central Indiana REMC, he was a journeyman lineman for Hoosier Energy.

Jon is a 2003 graduate of the Rural Electric Leaders in Training Exchange (RELITE) program and completed a B.S. in emergency and disaster management from the University of Indianapolis.

 Deirdre Tiernan

Chief financial officer

Deirdre Tiernan is the chief financial officer. In this role Deirdre is responsible for the efficient and effective management of the association’s resources, policies, accounting practices and benefits.

Deirdre is a graduate of Indiana University with a bachelor’s degree in business with a concentration in accounting and is a certified public accountant. She began her accounting career with the public accounting firm London Witte Group. While with this organization, she served as a manager with duties focused on audit, tax and utility regulatory issues. She worked for London Witte Group for 10 years before joining Indiana Electric Cooperatives in 2001.

Corey Willis

VICE PRESIDENT OF INFORMATION SERVICES

Corey Willis is the vice president of information services.

Corey previously served as manager of business operations at Tipmont REMC where he was responsible for the delivery of all cross-function initiatives for the electric distribution cooperative. Before his work there, Corey served in information services roles at Wabash Valley Power and Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis.

He is passionate about helping develop an organizational culture in which each member of the team is trusted, empowered and held accountable in the organization, which helps remove traditional barriers and silos. Corey is also gifted at revising business practices to drive efficiencies.

Corey holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis and a master’s degree in information technology project management from Purdue University.
