Linemen demonstrate skills at Indiana Electric Cooperative Lineman Rodeo

On Aug. 21-22, 125 electric linemen and 24 teams competed at the Indiana Electric Cooperative Lineman Rodeo. The two-day, family-friendly event showcased the skills and safety training of electric cooperative lineworkers.

The rodeo included competitive events for apprentices, journeyman lineworkers and teams of three. Lineworkers were tested on skills such as pole climbing, hurt man rescue and safely changing electric line hardware, rewarding excellence in safety, skill and knowledge.

Those competing in the 2025 rodeo represented 26 Indiana electric cooperatives, providing an opportunity for cooperative employees to network with on another while participating in a little friendly competition.

“We’re proud of the lineworkers who competed in this year’s rodeo, said John Cassady, CEO at Indiana Electric Cooperatives. Lineworkers have a lot of pride in the work they do. This event provided them the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and dedication to their craft while spending time with their peers from across the state.”
