Heater Co-Chairs Indiana Fiscal Policy Institute Luncheon

The Indiana Fiscal Policy Institute (IFPI) hosted its annual luncheon in mid-September in Indianapolis, bringing together leaders from government, business, and industry to discuss key issues shaping the state’s fiscal and economic future. Indiana Electric Cooperatives (IEC) was a sponsor of the event, with Ryan Heater, IEC’s vice president of government relations, serving as a co-chair.

This year’s luncheon focused on energy and economic development, exploring how Indiana’s energy policies impact growth and investment across the state. As part of the program, Heater led a conversation with Secretary of Energy and Natural Resources Suzie Jaworowski, covering topics such as the intersection of energy and economic development, siting considerations, and upcoming openings at the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission.

“The discussion highlighted the vital role energy plays in Indiana’s economic competitiveness,” said Heater. “It was a great opportunity to engage with leaders shaping the state’s energy future and to represent the important perspective of electric cooperatives.”

The IFPI is Indiana’s only independent, statewide source of ongoing research into the impact of state taxing and spending policies. Supported by organizations, corporations, and individuals, the Institute’s mission is to enhance the effectiveness and accountability of state and local government through education and objective fiscal policy research.

IEC’s participation in the IFPI luncheon underscores the organization’s commitment to advancing thoughtful energy and economic policy discussions that benefit Hoosier communities.
