Indiana’s electric cooperatives once again put the cooperative principle of “Concern for Community” into action during the annual Indiana’s Electric Cooperative Community Day, held Oct. 10.
This year, 32 electric cooperatives across the state completed nearly 50 unique service projects, each designed to meet specific needs within their local communities. Employees volunteered their time, energy, and expertise on a wide variety of efforts — from beautifying parks and supporting local nonprofits to assisting schools and food pantries.
Projects took place throughout the fall, with cooperatives organizing volunteer efforts that improved local facilities, supported families in need, and strengthened connections between co-op employees and the communities they serve.
Community Day highlights how Indiana’s electric cooperatives make a lasting difference by working together to strengthen the communities they serve. Beyond this single day of service, the cooperatives continue their commitment year-round — through initiatives like Project Indiana, which brings electricity to remote Guatemalan villages, and annual fundraisers supporting Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana.
