Just two weeks into his role at IEC, Bill Sparks was already making an impact in the field. When leaders at Kosciusko REMC learned about Bill’s extensive DOT experience and knowledge, they saw an opportunity to quickly put that expertise to work. Their new driver, Cain Schanlaub, was preparing for his CDL test, and they asked if Bill could help him get ready.
Without hesitation, Bill stepped in. Working alongside Jon Justice and Mike Whitaker from Kosciusko REMC, Bill spent time coaching Cain through key parts of the test process, offering practical pointers and real-world insight from years of experience. The preparation paid off — Cain successfully passed his CDL test the very next day.
Moments like this are a reminder of the value a diverse and experienced IEC team brings to Indiana’s electric cooperatives. Whether it’s safety, compliance, training, operations, or workforce development, having people with deep expertise across multiple areas allows IEC to quickly respond to co-op needs and provide meaningful support when it matters most. As Marty Jones, IEC’s director of regulatory strategy and compliance, shared, “In just two weeks with IEC, Bill has already contributed greatly to the team.”
