Statewide cooperative magazine wins three SPJ awards

In April, Indiana Connection received three Best in Indiana Journalism Awards from the Indiana Professional Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ).
The magazine received the following honors:
- First place in Best Magazine Personality Profile for the August 2025 feature on human rocket Skyler Miser.
- Second place, Best Magazine Features Writing for the November 2025 feature on Pets Healing Vets program.
- Third place in Best Magazine Personality Profile for the April 2025 feature on Ernie Pyle.
Brian D. Smith is the author of each story.
“Indiana Electric Cooperatives and the Indiana Connection team are honored to be recognized by such a prestigious organization and to be included alongside other very talented Indiana journalists,” said Britt Davis, Indiana Connection Editor. “Brian is a talented writer who always uncovers little gems to elevate his stories. We are fortunate to have him on our team.”
The SPJ Best in Indiana Journalism Award recognizes the most outstanding work of the year in Indiana print, broadcast, and online journalism. A complete list of the 2025 Best in Indiana Journalism Award winners can be found here.
