Kankakee Valley REMC celebrates solar array

Solar doesn’t differentiate between seasons. Using light, not heat to produce energy, solar is a great source for earth friendly energy. Kankakee Valley REMC held a ribbon cutting Dec. 3 for its new 100 KW community solar project. The KVREMC Community Solar Ribbon Cuttingribbon cutting celebrated the array being fully operational and successfully producing energy today that is being sent back onto the grid. The project is located at the cooperative headquarters in Wanatah. The community solar array consists of 432 solar panels, with output shares available for members to purchase at a price of $750 per share. Members can purchase enough energy to cover up to half of their annual electric use. Members who purchase shares will receive credits for those shares on their monthly electric bill.
