Late in 2019, IEC heard from some member cooperatives several complaints about certain utilities not marking their facilities in the statutory time frame, and cooperatives were inadvertently cutting facilities owned by other utilities.

The issue was discussed with some legislators during session; there appears to be some interest in addressing any issues. Rather than address this year one piece of what could be a larger issue, IEC will examine in depth the issues over the spring and summer to see if a more comprehensive solution is possible.
